OH HAPPY DAY! : 05 23 2022

I've been seeing a lot of shoes in the road lately and since I had already found a little kiddo camo sneaker, I grabbed the beat-up men's shoe as well as the insole that's below it just for the picture (I've already thrown it out honey so no need for the internationally famous eye roll-ha!).   It was plumbing day too, I saw lots of these PVC elbows along the curb but these three were the only ones that weren't run over.  'Da Googles' figured out what the black hooky thing is, it's a bungee cord accessory, it's listed as a plastic Cargo Hook for strapping down any car top luggage.  Never would have guessed that!  And to think I almost left it in the street.  Oh happy day! (ha)

There was an earring and a roll of electrical tape, and lots of bolts.  I hit for the cycle too!  I had all but the quarter and to help things out I decided to swing past that area where I found 38 quarters in the grass a few weeks ago.  And lo and behold...there was my quarter.  A large thank you Creator for that one!!

Antie Em, Auntie Em......aieeeee! : 05 22 2022

The longer Sunday runs never disappoint, and today there was something for everyone.  There was the dreaded, run for the hills, it cannot be stopped, Auntie Em, Auntie Em.......aieeeeee, PURPLE HAIR SCRUNCHIE!  For you brave souls, it will be in the 'Rundover Store'.  I think that may be the 2nd NBA sock I've found, completing the set.  And also, to quickly reiterate as we've already discussed this....I have a Firm Grip.  Moving on, there was a Kea baby bib in the road, so some poor little guy is making a big mess of himself now without it I'm sure.  And he 'spit the bit' as well as there was a pacifier/bippy in the road near by.  This was the deluxe model too, one side to suck on and the other side to chew on.  Who even knew?

I hit for the extended cycle again today (penny, nickel, dime, quarter, socket, lug nut), that always brings a smile!!  3 quarters, 6 dimes, 2 nickels, and 14 pennies scattered all over.  Three or four days like that and I'll be able to buy a gallon of gas.  Yeayuh!  (TYCOATFTSOYIA!) There was a Kroger card on the ground, and I'm sure I have one here somewhere along with a small card for probably a dozen other places.  Old technology, people do most everything with their phones anymore.  And here's something to add to the 'Rundover Store's' office supply section, an American Nation Bank pen (never heard of 'em), and the classic #2 Dixon Ticonderoga pencil, large size for writing up those big deals.

I found an Arial hat at the curb and after consulting with 'da Googles' I found that they offer apparel for equestrians. Now you know.  The small hammer I'm betting is to use in case you drive you car into a pond and need to break a window to get out.  If I could make a suggestion.....don't drive into the pond already!  I already had a push gromet tool so I knew what they were, and I now have an extra.  I also found a couple of extra drill attachments, one a phillips head screw driver end and the other a nut driver.  There was the usual assortment of screws, washers and nuts (don't say it, just think it....) including a 15mm socket-those are always useful.  All fun stuff, and it amazes me how it all finds me.

STREET 4 -- ELECTRONICS 0 : 05 21 2022

The electronics didn't make out very well today.  That was a 1 TB Seagate desktop hard drive and it was in the road at a very busy intersection.  No other PC parts were in sight though, but the hard drive clearly lost the battle to the road.  Likewise the cable tv remote, all that was left of that one was the rubber buttons and the electronics were nowhere in sight.  There were two cell phone cases, one for an iPhone and the other unknown, and no phones were in sight either, and it was a good thing for whoever lost them.  Another day, another bungie cord, and of course another glove, this one a Uline Ultra-lite Polyurethane coated little gem, which is now available in the 'Rundover Store' for all you lefties.
Interestingly, there were two room cards for the Hilton, one which said that if you download their app, you can use your phone as your room key.  With so many tasks being shifted to the phones now, I'm surprised that people aren't a little more careful where they put them, especially with a lot of them priced at over a grand.

Let me just say this.......ARLINGTON.  Ok, moving on (that was probably part of a license plate holder).   I hit for the extended cycle (penny, nickel, dime, quarter, socket, lug nut) again today--woo and hoo!  And if I remember correctly I had one each of the coins in 19 min.  Thank you Creator for these symbols of your infinite abundance!  I also rediscovered three forgotten coins from our trip to East Texas, a quarter and two pennies.  They were part of a day I still have to write up, where I must have dug 6 or 8 coins out of the asphalt.  I love the challange!  Another tennis ball, and no tennis court in sight.  And what I thought was an odd kind of visor, was in fact part of a face shield, minus the shield of course.  Go figure.  There were also several nut drivers for a drill, and also the usual assortment of lug nuts and regular nuts in the road (ok, everyone together on three......, picked up by one more nut in the road, yeah, yeah, shaddup).  Wrapping it up there was one more bungie cord, that must make one hundred and bungie seven or eight now.

DON'T SEND THE RANSOM! 05 20 2022

Don't send the ransom, I got away!!!  Actually, the reason I haven't posted anything in two weeks is because we've been on the road for the last two weeks.  I've run every day, but I haven't been able to post anything, either because the internet was almost nonexistent, or because by the end of a long day exploring and poking around towns in East Texas I didn't have enough "wanna" left to do it.  And pretty much everywhere we went, stuff still followed me. More on that in the next few posts, I'm 14 or so behind so I'm going to have some work ahead of me.  But it seems I'm gifted/blessed no matter where we go!

The last two days in Gun Barrel City and Seven Points TX were pretty darn good and I didn't expect that coming back to the regular 'stomping ground' would be able to compete.  Wrong!  I hit for the extended cycle again, in fact several times (see post 01/13/2022).  Thank you again Creator of all for all the shiny pennies.  Lots of everything today, like the Apple USB cord, the lug nuts and socket, and the 32 utility knife blades I rescued from the street.  I don't expect that those sharp blades would be doing anyone's tires any good, and I think I got the worst of it out of the road.  The cell phone case I found in the street about 10' from a storm drain and I suspect that the phone was already sucked down the black hole never to be seen again.  The plastic VW logo came off a VW something, and since I already have logos for almost a zillion other cars already (ok, ok, I exaggerated, it's only half a zillion) I will add that to the collection. (Here comes the world famous eye roll.......sorry honey!)

The small round silver circular thing is a Harley Davidson symbol that screws on somewhere, but 'Da Googles' didn't say exactly where though.  The last two things I found were the basketball and the hose end sprayer, which was nice I didn't have far to carry them, I've found lots of different kinds of balls in the road or surrounding area including tennis balls, baseballs, soft balls, golf balls, ping pong balls, etc but this is the 1st basketball.  Something new to add to the sporting goods wing of  'The Rundover Store'.   Lastly, the hose sprayer looks like it may work, but I won't know until I hook it up if it goes on the patio, or if it adorns the large round can (that gets sent to the street twice a week).

GO FIGURE (again) : 05 04 2022

Hit for the extended cycle!!(penny, nickel, dime, quarter, socket, lug nut).  Had all that just 20 minutes into the run even, go figure!!  And of course, thank you Creator for all these little blessings, including the nice morning.  I found another pair of gloves in addition to these, but they didn't make the cut.  I at least brought them back, but they were well used and never made the picture.  The USB cord was promising but after a closer look, that will probably disappear too.  Now, there was a two pound barbell weight that I 'ran' across early on and I had intended to go back for it but I forgot, and even forgot a 2nd time when I had to drive back over in that area later on.  Kind of a case of Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind it appears.  I usually run that route once a week so hopefully we'll see that at some point in time.
We'll be traveling very soon, and it will be interesting to see what kinds of treasures will find me.  It never ceases to amaze me.  It doesn't matter where we go, or how far away it is, there's always the same kind of "stuff" on every road I run on.  Go figure (again!)

THERE'S A POKESHEEP?? 05 03 2022

I was expecting to hit for the cycle today (penny, nickel, dime, quarter) as I found all but the dime early on.  But I looked everywhere I could think of today and no dime-ola! It was probably there but I just missed it.  One more to find tomorrow, I guess.  I did find a set of Allen wrenches, a little rusty but useable.  Thank you Allen.  I haven't checked to see if there's anything left on the Walmart card (next to the Allen wrenches), but I have gotten $5 or $6 from time to time.

Continuing around, the card above the Wallyworld card is a Pokemon game card and although I have seen Pokemon cards before, that's the first Pokesheep I've seen.  I checked with 'Da Googles' and come to find out that's ........horn flourish ..... "Wooloo".  Not sure how battling with a Pokesheep works since their claim to fame is being fluffy and running away.  Or so says 'Da Googles'.

Considering that I've already gotten some miniature strawberries from my garden boxes, and also that I've found limes, oranges and apples on my runs recently, I expected that this would have been a real strawberry, but no.  It's a pretty good looking plastic one though.  And looking back on the plastic produce, I'm pretty sure the only other thing I've found is some pretty chinsey looking plastic broccoli. It's just as well that it's plastic, I really hate to see food go to waste.

R I P VAPING CRAPOLA : 05 02 2022

Yes, that is, or rather was, a vaping whatchamacallit.  It was in perfect shape, a bright orange, the little blue battery light was flashing, there was stuff inside.  And then my hammer accidentally slipped and hit it, three, four, five times.  Ooops.  In my humble opinion, there have been way too many cigarette butts and packs on the ground out there, and now there's e-cigarettes strewn everywhere.  Well, this one won't be doing any vaping any time soon.  Moving on.

I found another TX Lottery, scratch off, 2nd chance drawing ticket and I'm entered (again) for a Vegas Getaway.  With 5 chances in the pool per ticket, to win 1 of 3828 $100 prizes or 1 of 5 $1,000,000 prizes, I probably should start packing my bags now.  Didn't check the Shell gift card yet but I suspect it may be a whole lot more valuable than the 2nd chance drawing ticket.  Not being a pessimist, just a realist.

Another wrench found in the street, a 14mm this time.  I'm starting to get a pretty good collection of tools now.  The S hook was all by its lonesome, no bungie cord anywhere near, but it will soon have lots of company (sorry honey, that probably makes lebenty million of them now but it was shiny!  Thank you for the eye roll...)

It's Probably A Mechanix : 05 01 2022

It was hard to identify but I'm pretty sure that is a Mechanix work glove.  I mean to be really sure it would probably have to be written on it 12 or 15 times instead of just 3, but I'm going to go out on a limb here.  Yup, Mechanix work glove.  I didn't pick up on it until I saw the picture but the bow on the elastic band inside the cell phone case looks like a big smiley. Ha!   I do tend to keep me amused!
Lots of change but then there generally is on a longer Sunday run, and I hit for the cycle at least 3 times too (penny, nickel, dime, quarter)!  Thank you Creator for all these little blessings!!  Now the box cutter must not have been on the curb line very long at it's in good shape for a change.  The last 2 or 3 have been a little bent up.  That's a pretty clean golf ball and I was thinking that I hadn't 'run' across any in a while.  I don't think I've used any Strata balls on the big course before but since it does say 'Super Range' on it, it could be a range ball (yup, figured that out all by myself).
Lots of pens today, and since I've picked up so many of them I only took the really clean, unscratched ones.  Lots of bank lots, lots of pens.  The orange marker was a surprise, it was in the car wash lane at a gas station of all places.  The cap was off and I figured it would have dried out, but it was still good. And I just happened to need a Syracuse Orange orange marker.  Yeayuh!
Forgot to mention yesterday, I got to 'direct traffic' again. The timing was perfect,  the RR crossing arms were coming down just as I got there. Which meant I got to step into the street, stop the cars that were already stopped there, and then signal the train to cross the intersection that it was already going to cross anyway, and then as the arms were going back up, motion the cars to continue on which they would have anyway. What's fun is when the people stopped get it and can laugh at the lunacy of it. Just havin fun.

Unfortunate Apple User : 04 29 2022

Yes, that is another IPhone found in the road, and I don't think that one will be returnable as it won't power up, I found it on the brick median of a pretty busy intersection and about 50' further up the street was an Apple Airbuds charging case.  All in all, not a good day for that Apple user.  I also found part of a 12' tape measure, and I was due for a beat up one as the last few have really been in good shape.  The watch face I found was at the same place I found the pocket watch top and bottom back on 4/21 although I thought I had looked around for watch parts.
Found another Mastercard, this one a fleet card which was also pretty beat up but might be returnable. It was a day for lots of oddball stuff, like the Klang Pokémon card.  And of course, everybody knows that the character Klang, with it's spinning attack, evolves from the character Klink.  Yeah, right.  Not sure if the Jimmy Johns free sandwich card is still good, but if you text your email address to them you can join "Freaky Fast Rewards" so you can get texts from them asking you to "buy our stuff".
The round white thing at the top right, come to find out, is a Stake Safe.  When you plant a 4' steel stake/fence post you can put these on top so there isn't a sharp edge.  Makes sense if there's animals behind that fence.  I also found a very small wrench which could be very handy some day.  You just never know when you'll have to tighten a bolt in really really close quarters and you need a really really small wrench.  Well, there you have it.  Lastly, some days there's lots of change and some days like today, there's just two shiny pennies.  It's all about being thankful, which I am, for a whole lot of things!

BLUE CERTIFIED : 04 30 2022

I gotta ask here, what's the difference between a Blue Certified Used Vehicle and say, a Red Certified Used Vehicle?  The flag is on a window mount so I suppose it would allow you to drive around town displaying your Blue Certified Used Vehicle pride. Considering how the price of used vehicles has skyrocketed, finding one, and then being able to afford one, I guess I'd be all proud too. There was another car window hanger whatzits at the lower left corner of the picture, which is probably just your ordinary, everyday, all-purpose window hanger whatzits.  Now, I recognized the long silver tube thingy on the right of the car flag, it's to push quad wire or a CAT5 lead through the wall from one room to the next (I'm starting to get that 'twitch' from my telephone repairman days).  Found them close by on an overpass to the highway, not too far actually from where a couple of weeks ago I found the heavy metal chisel and the can of Barbasol shaving cream.  Sheesh, with that kind of history how do you not keep checking over there!
The threaded PVC cap might come in handy; we go camping quite a bit and in addition to water and electric, there's usually a sewer hookup which has one of these. And since most folks would like to keep those smells safely away, it would just be insurance (finally, something where there's no eye roll honey!)  Lately I seem to find lots of sockets and wrenches in the road and this wrench was a 5/16".  I usually find smaller ones and I guess those are easier to lose than, say, a 13/16" which if it falls, you're either going to hear it or if it hits a toe, feel it.  Yowza!  There were a couple of more pretty decent gloves, and I gotta ask, now who wouldn't want a Maxiflex or Grease Monkey glove?  I know, crazy!
Pennies and dimes today, didn't hit for the cycle but of course I'm always thankful for all these little symbols of the Creator's infinite abundance. Yowza again.  Lastly, drum roll......... we have a new addition to our kid's section in the 'Rundover Store', we have a pink, one of a kind, Disney Princess spoon!  Yes, you heard me right, Disney Princess spoon!  I'm sure this won't last long, especially if we find the Disney Prince Fork, or the Disney Dog Knife to complete the set.  And as always, operators are sitting by.
