Holy Panic Button! : 12 06 2022

 

     I'd never seen a pepper sprayer before but I have now, that's a SABRE "advanced 3-in-1pepper spray with red pepper, CS military tear gas, and UV marking dye."  Holy panic button Batman!  I think I'd like to be upwind when they commence to spraying somebody with that.  Whuhuoy!  Moving on, I found a Panera Bread gift card with $7.63 available on it which ought to get a cookie or pastry or something else that's nap inducing.  Next to Panera is another Pokémon game card, this one is a "special energy" card. It says that you attach it to your Pokéy guy and it provides energy, kind of like using a USB backup battery.  Right.  Next I saw a couple of unused black garbage bags just off  the curb and didn't feel like stopping, but when I crossed the street and headed back in the other direction I saw 3 or 4 more.  And here they are, figured I'd find a use for them after all.  There were 3 quarters, three dimes and a penny out there today and as common as pennies seem to be, that last penny didn't find me until the last quarter mile of the run.  It's kind of a foregone conclusion anymore that it's going to happen though.  I don't need to necessarily know where, I just know. (and thank you too!!)

Tweeze With Ease : 12 05 2022

 

     Here's proof that not all the runs have a zillion coins, tools, pens, sockets, etc.  There was, though, some usable stuff like the Homer Depot pencil that I used to mark the wall for a wall outlet next day.  The Heltzberg Diamonds discount card is current until the end of December and will save you $250 off a $1500 ring.  So, with the coinage I found yesterday and today I only need $1,246.13 more to get my honey a sparkly gift before Christmas.  I'm going to have to start running faster, farther, or both.  There's been a lot of gloves to talk about in the last week or two and I've never seen a "Pugs" one before.  According to 'Da Googles' they're "Tech All Trade All Purpose" gloves so no having to switch gloves in the middle of a job now!  I almost missed the tweezers that were in a street crossing expansion joint.  Hallelujah, now I can tweeze with ease.  I found another drill driver bit, a Dewalt SL8  and I guess the yellow band is their trademark.  Another socket today and I don't see many 14mm.  I'm wondering now which kind I see more of, SAE or metric. I guess the 200-300 I've found would be a good sampling.  Still I'm finding "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader" game pieces in the same general area as before.  Not sure if that's trying to tell me something.  The ring at the center is kind of a mystery.  It's not really fancy, no stones or engraving or other identification.  I guess I could get the metal detector out and set it to silver to see if it's even jewelry.  Lastly, just to show that there's not 78 coins to find on every run (like yesterday), I found two pennies and a shiny dime today which is closer to the norm I guess.  I'm pretty much always going to find my shiny penny or rather it's going to find me.  Just a few shiny blessings for which I am always grateful.

      Holy guacamole!  78 coins today!   Granted I never know what to expect from run to run, but on today's route, which used to be my Sunday standard, there was lots of everything, especially coinage.  There was everything from tools and sockets, to bolts, washers, and NutsInTheRoad, to name tags and things to write with.  I think I need to apologize for assuming that everyone that reads these has seen them all and will get all of the off-the-wall humor or references to something I found and talked about six months ago.  (but feel free to go back and read the stuff from 6 months ago!!)  Also, keep in mind that what I show here is a sampling of what's in the road and that I don't take every piece of pig-iron and/or crapola that I see.  It only seems that way, right honey?  Whuhuoy!  Such an eye-roll!!  Alrighty then, that black fuzzy round ski hat topper was part of something else and I needed one for the Hogwarts ski hat I found last Jan or Feb, so that will find a new home soon.  Next to that is something I figured went to a hitch and 'Da Googles' says it's a DLLRV safety chain connector that uses G80 alloy steel.  None of that cheap G40 alloy stuff for this guy, no siree!  Next to that is a roll of white vinyl tape to go with the black, red, and blue ones I've found.  Next to that is a blue crayon and with the 4 Round-Stic pens I also found so I've got writing tools for all ages.  

     I found several sockets, 7/8" and (of course) a 10mm along with a socket extender.  And to keep the 10mm one company I also found a 10mm wrench, this one with a jazzy ratchet end.  One more addition to the fine collection of slightly run-over tools we offer at The Rundover' Store.  Operators are always stand.....I mean sitting by.  There were a couple more lug-nuts and I see a lot of the zippy wheel lock ones to go with the wheel lock socket heads I've found.  Next, Kevin from Dollar Tree, I hope you have your Quality Service stuff from the back of the employee name-badge memorized.  You know....G.E.T.....Greet-Exceed-Thank.  There'll be a quiz next time I'm dollar shopping  Our friends at B&B Laundry in Keller contributed a laundry card and did you know they're resuable?  Somebody forgot because this one was in the street.  Now for everyone who used to read the Sunday paper's comics section there was one called The Phantom and he had a ring with a skull on it.  When he punched the bad guys it left a little skull face on your jaw.  I found a skull ring today, but with a smiley skull on it, probably for those times when it was more of a laughable offense.  There was a Nissan logo in the street to go with the Toyota one I found yesterday. And let's talk about all that change.  I'm almost always going to find a shiny penny (see Jan 14) but 46?  And 8 quarters, 15 nickels, and 10 dimes?  Normally even I'd be a little surprised but this is one of the long Sunday runs and I haven't done this route in several months, so stuff has had a while to accumulate.  Which is another reason I like running new places when we travel, stuff has had forever to accumulate for me.  Lastly, thank you Creator of all things not just for the coinage and tools and stuff, thanks for the nice day and the wherewithal to get out there and get at it.  Yeayuh!

Baby Shark?? : 12 03 2022

 

     I must be a hermit living in a cave in the middle of nowhere.  Today I found a Pinkfong Baby Shark and I have no clue what a Pinkfong is, or a Bluefong, or Purplefong for that matter, but 'Da Googles' does.  It seems ol' Pink-a-roonie does a Baby Shark song and of course there's a video and all the assorted toys and books to go with it.  I guess someone saw there's a buck to be made and knew there's folks out there who will buy anything.  There's just something about that smile with pointed shark teeth that creeps me out.   Moving on, I have a another Toyota symbol to go with the Fords, Chevys, BMWs, Mazdas, et al found in the street. This week has been glove week, this time there's a pair of Body-Guard gloves that I'm sure won't guard more than your hands.  Right after them I found a pair of fuzzy green gloves, the kind that don't guard anything, they're just there to keep your hands warm.  Novel idea that.  The pen on the left I found once before on Nov 22nd and it had one of those laughable descriptions they come up with.  To name it they must go around the room and everybody adds the first word that comes to mind, in this case, "Pen Lot Pilot Rexgrip Pentel Wow Zebra Sarasa Pilot G-2 and on and on and on.  Sheesh!  How about Pen, Black, done!  At the same intersection where I've found over 100 drill driver-bits, I found 4 more.  This is the 4th time I've scoured the intersection and took all I saw and still there's more today.  I guess it's no big deal because every day I pick up all the coins I see out there and the next day I keep finding more.  No matter which route I take.  Today there was 6 quarters, 6 dimes, 5 nickels, and 17 pennies scattered throughout the run.  For which I am thankful.

Cheap Socks : 12 02 2022

 

    I found a dollar bill along Rufe Snow today despite the stiff wind.  Not sure what kept it in one spot long enough for me to snag it but I guess I should be saying thank you Creator of all for this little symbol of your infinite abundance.  There was plastic to be found today, the Costco membership card was pretty beat up and I'd be amazed if "Steve" hadn't reported it already.  There was a google play card which I guess lets you buy apps at the App Story, and the orange card is what I'm guessing is a fleet card for a local business.  I found the two halves of that one about a quarter of a mile apart and with the wind today it makes sense.  That's a really tiny panda sock at the center, and according to 'Da Googles' it's "Cheap Socks Directly From China with anti slip bottoms".  Just what every infant will be expecting under the tree I'm sure.  There were the usual NutsInTheRoad (picked up by, yeah, we know....), and a 3/8" socket, a 10mm this time instead of a 13.  I can't read what size that drill driver bit is, but it's a T something.  Lastly, with only 2 quarters, a dime, and 5 pennies I didn't 'hit for the cycle' today but nonetheless I'm thankful for all the little treasures, and for being able to get at it again today.  Yeayuh!

That's Always A Plus : 12 01 2022

 

        Another 1st today, I found a $1 gaming token from the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.  I'm not going to ask how it ended up along the curb half buried in the dirt, I'm expecting somebody took a wrong turn somewhere.  I was seeing a lot of useful stuff, like the 1 1/8" wood bit, the 3/8" open end wrench, and 7mm socket.  Amongst all the pig-iron I see, I've been finding a lot of bolts that take a star-bit driver and I found another driver today, this one a T20. I bet there's been 200 of those driver-bits in the last month.  Whuhuoy!!   I found an S-hook for a bungee cord but the none of the cords today were worth keeping. I picked up several hitch-pins and a couple of large hooks that ought to go with a tie down strap, not sure where the straps ended up.  The gas cap at the top right was just down the street from a gas station and when the dash malfunction warning light comes on, somebody will figure out they made an oops back at the gas station. 

      Now some days it's washer day, some it's drill driver/bit day, and today it's most certainly OneMoreNutInTheRoad day and I was selective with the 21 I picked up.  Same with the lug-nuts, I only picked up 4 but there were a lot more.  With as many as I've found by now I must have every make and model covered. Sorry, just a sec........no, seriously honey, there were some that I left where they were and.......oh, good eye-roll honey!  Where was I?  Oh yeah, there were more work gloves with jazzy names like Jaguar.  I don't suppose the average weekend grease monkey would be able to work on a Jag and the shop guys that do would be wearing something more practical like the Firm-Grip glove which I also found today.  Just one more addition to our automotive section in The 'Rundover' Store.  I 'hit for the extended cycle' today (penny,nickel,dime,quarter,socket,lug-nut) and again I had to laugh as that last elusive nickel finally showed itself out in a lane of traffic about 200 yards from me finishing up.  It's just one more symbol of how blessed I am, being able to get out every day and do something that I enjoy, being amused by the kind of silly stuff that ends up in the road, and sharing a smile and a wave with all the nice people that don't run me over out there.  That's always a plus. 

SIBLING HUMOR : 11 30 2022

     I guess it makes sense that I'd find a little rubber soccer ball today seeing how the World Cup feet-ball stuff is going hot and heavy.  Today's route is the same one where I found 70 drill driver bits on Nov 10th and another 14 on the 16th and lo and behold, at the same intersection I found  5 more of them as well as a 1" wood bit.  Where are they coming from?  There must still be a cache of them further back in the road that is getting swept toward the street crossing where I'm finding them.  I'm picking up all I see and scanning the intersection but they keep magically appearing.  Go figure.  I haven't picked up any work gloves since back on the 6th and usually if they've got a fun name then I'll have to pick them up.  Today I was kind of feeling like I might need to do some Greese-Monkeying and now I've got the gloves to help with that.  And I can only imaging what I could build using MAJESTIC SUPERDEX PRO PLUS gloves, it boggles the mind.  I'd love to know how to get a job naming these too.   I found another mechanical pencil in the street, those are always handy.  That huge wood screw I passed by on my last run but for some reason I changed my mind today.  Must have looked very shiny in the sun, something to do with raccooning my brother Dave would tell me. Ha-sibling humor! Lastly one quarter, two dimes, a nickel, and 10 pennies but no folding money today.  Well, at least I 'hit for the cycle'.  And thank you Creator of all things for that little blessing.  Yeahuh!
 

How Lukey Is That? : 11 29 2022

 

      I would have just been happy that I found a penny and a dime right off the bat.  And then that $10 bill showed up along the wet curb-line of Rufe Snow.  And then a zillion dimes started showing up.  And then a TX Lottery scratch-and-sniff ticket with 10 chances to be livin Lucky with Lukey Combs on a trip to Nashville.  How Lukey, I mean lucky is that?  And a 1958D wheat penny, not to mention a free 5/16" socket and specialty locking lug-nut. And I found a padded bicycle seat to replace the one that I just retired last week, how Lukey, I mean lucky is that?  According to 'Da Googles' with what they go for on Amazon, I'm another $17 to the good.  So I won't be needing that red pen I found, I'll be showing everything in the black today.  I really didn't need any more bungee cords, I can bungee til the cows come home as it is.  But I haven't picked up any in a while and besides it gives my honey another chance to exercise that 'internationally famous eye-roll.'  You're welcome babe, I'm always here for ya!.  I didn't discover it until I got back, but I mixed up and forgot to drink my Access Exercise Shake before hitting the streets. And I ALWAYS have one of those before EVERY workout.  It has an adenosine blocker so I get to use body fat for fuel and I love that I don't get sore muscles from lactic acid buildup.  So I'm apologizing now honey for all the whining you'll hear tomorrow morning because I'm a little sore.  You can owe me an eye-roll.   There were a lot of interesting things today, but without the nickel there's no 'hitting for the cycle' (penny,nickel, dime,quarter).  But I found a ten spot so I'm good with that. And of course, thank you Creator of all things for all kinds of little blessings today.  Yeayuh!

It's A What? : 11 28 2022

 

     I know, I said the same thing; it's a what?  A banana?  A whole undamaged new banana, just sitting there all by itself along the curb.  Ha! I did a quick look around thinking Bob, Dave, Kevin, or some other Minion must have just dropped it.  Well that's another first.  I found a few familiar items though, there were still a few pieces of the "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader" game from my run back on the 18th. I  put what I found in the trash but I guess a few pieces snuck out.  There were a couple of drill attachments, one a Phillips/straight head bit and the other a small 3/32" hex bit;  how many of those have I run across lately?  Another 10mm socket, no surprise there.  I've picked up those small wrenches before, they're the kind you get when you buy something that you have to put together and they give you "tools."   There was a little bit of pig-iron and of course OneMoreNutInTheRoad picked up by, yeah, yeah, we know.  There's a wood screw on the bottom next to the socket and although I usually don't pick up stuff that's going to put a hole in my pocket (thereby letting all the little treasures escape!), I did take this one to represent all the nails and screws that I pulled from the road today hopefully saving someone a flat.  More good karma I hope!  There were a few coins that found me, two dimes and 3 nickels, I guess that's a full house.  Regardless, they're small blessings for which I am grateful. 

Tis The Season : 11 27 2022

     The reindeer are shedding again.  I found my first reindeer antler in the street today and since we've just now said good-bye to Thanksgiving, it will be 'all things Christmas' for the next month.  I found another paint can 'pry-it-open' tool today and it wasn't even in front of the Sherwin Williams store I usually pass.  The business card I found actually is a fridge magnet, which is a smart way to get people to keep your card.  There was another hotel room key card, this time for a Sheraton so there's probably a tourist out there on the outside looking in.   I've seen a lot of the small candelabra base light bulbs scattered about the last week or two, which makes sense because Christmas decorations have been sprouting up everywhere.  That 7/16" socket to the left of the light bulb I didn't recognize until I had kicked it along the curb line, that must make number two hundred lebenty nineteen now.  And lastly, with 9 quarters, 8 dimes, 3 nickels, and 26 pennies I guess you could say I 'hit for the cycle' today.  I guess one could also say thank you Creator of all things for all these little symbols of Your infinite abundance, which is $3.26 toward the next pair of running shoes. Yeayuh!

Putski's Little Gift : 11 26 2022

 

     With all the crazy stuff I've come across I must have seen it all by now you'd think.  That would be no.   I find lots of change but I found my first coin from Russia, a 20 Kopeks coin made in 1933.  How do you suppose that got here?  It was on a section of  Hwy 26 where there isn't any sidewalk or shoulder, where I usually try to get through as fast as I can so I've never looked that closely at the pavement until today when traffic was light.  I'd donate it to Igor Putski, Russia's resident bad-boy but I don't think money will help what he's got waiting for him.  Let me say it ahead for you...Wah!  OK then, although I've found enough pens to last me through the end of the decade, two more jumped into my pocket his morning, thanks go out to my Frost friends and also to Colonel Chicken.  Another 1st for my runs is finding a handicapped parking placard.  I guess it blew out of somebody's car because it says right on it "not to drive vehicle with placard hanging from mirror."  It might have been on a windy day when half of Oklahoma was blowing by that it was sitting on the dash and a door was opened and, now you see it and now you don't.  There was another star drill bit adapter out there today, a T15 this time to add to the collection.  And I 'hit for the cycle' several times over this morning, 2 quarters, four dimes, four nickels, and 5 pennies, not to mention Putski's little gift.  So thank you Creator of all things for all these little symbols of Your infinite abundance.  Yeayuh!

The Cars Always Win : 11 25 2022

 

     

 

    Took a day off from finding pennies in the road for the annual Thanksgiving Day race yesterday.   Ran a good Turkey Trot, maintained pace throughout, worked the last mile hard, and sprinted the finish. It was a big difference from last year when I had some tendons that were iffy and I didn't know if I could even run a 10K.  Just another blessing!  Things got back to normal today, or as normal as my runs ever get, there was a lot of "stuff" over the whole run.  I found a another lug bolt and since I haven't had them on a vehicle before I wondered which is better, a lug-nut or a lug bolt?  According to 'Da Googles' the difference between the two is that with lug-nuts you can hang the tire on the wheel stud and then tighten the nut, and with the bolts you have to balance the tire with your toe as you try to align the two holes up so you can start threading the bolt in the hole.  The bolts are kind of schmancy, they're on a lot of BMWs and they seem a little pricey at $16 for just one, but I vote for the quicker and easier lug-nuts.  There were two more drill driver attachments, one for T25 star head screws and the other a nut driver.  I'm closing in on two bajillion of those this month so look for a sale at The 'Rundover' Store.  Another hitch pin to add to the collection too.  Someone lost a deck of Pokémon cards and who knew there was a Poké-Bear, Poké-Fish, Poké-Rock, Poké-Fox, Poké-Shoes, Poké-Horse, and my personal favorite, the Poké-Moose.  Whoo weee!  Boy oh boy these won't last long, call now, operators are sitting by.  Lastly, I 'hit for the cycle' again today (penny,nickel,dime,quarter) and some of them were pretty beat up.  Seems the cars always win. Anyway, thank you Creator for all the little treasures, and for being able to get out there and get-at-it.  Yeayuh!

Shame On You! : 05 06 2022

      Running around the Texas State Railroad Campground at an early hour didn't have a lot of delays because of stopping to pick up little treasures. It appears in fact, the little treasures were sleeping in today, especially the shiny pennies. We were taking the vintage train ride from Palistine to the State Park depot in Rusk that morning and I got to run and explore the station and the area around it.  It and the campgrounds were set back in the woods, well off of the highway, and although the campground was usually well occupied, we were the ONLY people there the 1st night. It was pitch black, out in the middle of nowhere, with nobody anywhere near, and it felt like a scene out of The Twilight Zone! Anyway, the run was uneventful although there was a kids scooter near the train station.  It looked very out of place but I left it where it was, and when the train stopped there later on our lunch break it was gone so obviously it made it back home.  The only catch-of-the-day, the orange squirt-gun in the picture, I found along the nature trail of all places.  Probably one of the squirrels, or possums, or racoons dropped it, you know how they can get, forgetting that they have to share the woods with all of us tourists, and leaving their toys scattered about.  Shame on you!  Anyway, lastly, thank you Creator of all things for all of the beauty, for being able to spend another day out in it, and for the wherewithal to hit the streets looking for treasures once again.  Yeayuh!

Thank Goodness For Asphalt : 05 10 2022

 

     Running the roads and trails at a State Park, you normally don't expect to find much of anything interesting. This is the 2nd State Park on this trip and just when I least expected it, there, in the middle of the parking lot at the boat launch area, was my shiny penny. Fortunately for me it was stuck in a piece of asphalt, or it would probably have washed away. There have been so many days with all kinds of change scattered all over the place, this shows that there's also days with little, or one, or none even. Always thankful for the one, but even when there's none, there's always the shiny penny of a nice day, and the shiny penny of having the wherewithal to get out and go running to be thankful for. And I am.

SHOE MONEY : 07 17 2022

    I'm posting this previous run today on Thanksgiving Day 2022 because with the Turkey Trot 10K race, I don't plan on stopping until the race is over.  This run was a Sunday about 4 months ago that I was never able to get to.   That said, credit card, military ID, half a cell phone, lots of change, where to start?  On the ID and credit card, they're the same person's and I called the most likely phone number and left a message but never heard back.  On the whole, I don't see many cell phones cut in half-- credit cards yes, cell phones no, but I took it just for the picture.  There was a small Rubicks cube looking ball to the lower right, not sure about that, toy, keyring, etc?   Below that is another tire valve cap,  they never seem to put them on tight, do they?

     The the owner of the Gamer at Play sign would STARVE at my house. Leave the food and go? Not in a million years Zippy.  The really useful item here is the USB rechargeable motion light.  I have gotten all kinds of use from that, and it was lying in the middle of the driveway going into Keller Town Square.   Yup. I like it!  There was also 4 quarters, 13 dimes, a nickel, and 19 pennies scattered about on the run. It's the normal expectation that on a longer run I'll 'hit for the cycle' (penny,nickel, dime,quarter) and of course I did again today.  At this rate it will take another 22 Sunday runs to find enough $$ to get a new pair of running shoes. I generally wear them out in about 12 weeks but I won't have to go barefoot for 10 weeks.  Fortunately I find $$ every day so adding that in,  it it'll work out. And of course, thank you Creator of all things for the shoe money!

Trains and Trains and Trains : 11 23 2022

    How does an unexpired Texas DMV windshield sticker end up in the grass along the road?  It's still good for 7 more months too, so where's the vehicle it was stuck to?  The answer to that is probably way above my pay grade.  So, moving on, I had promised to sing at a memorial service this morning so to make sure I got there early I cut a mile or so off the run, meaning fewer places to look.  Meaning fewer chances to find those shiny pennies on a route that tends to be a bit stingy as well.  Still, three pennies and a shiny quarter managed to find me, nothing to sneeze at I'm thinking.  I didn't end up running where I thought I'd be going today and again, some of the twists and turns are where traffic allowed.  Which took me past the railroad tracks 4 times and wouldn't you know it, there was a train to help out 3 times.  First time was passing the Smithfield Station crossing and I did have to wait for a minute for the passengers to finish boarding and the train to pull out.  But fortunately for them, I was there to step into the street, stop the already stopped cars, keep them already stopped while directing the train across the road, which it was going to do anyway.  And lastly, direct the cars back on their way, which they were going to do anyway.  Ha!  Silly? Yes!  Fun was had by all?  Yes!  I got honks, waves and even a thumbs up from the engineer.  Ya gotta love it.  By the time I had gotten to Main & Davis the train was coming through from the other direction and so I repeated the process over on Davis.  On the North side the cars are set back a long way from the tracks so I'm not sure how many of them actually saw OneMoreNutInTheRoad up by the tracks waving his arms at trains and traffic.  The last crossing was just west of Smithfield Station and I heard the noise of the train leaving so I had a chance to pick the busier side of the tracks and wait a sec for the bell to sound and the crossing arms to come down.  You know, it works so much better when you're close up.  Again I get honkin and wavin and smilin and thumbin upin.  And maybe somebody got to work with a smile that they could share with someone else.  They really do multiply.  So lastly, thank you Creator of all things for those 4 little symbols of your infinite abundance and thank you for having gotten delayed 3 times at the RR crossings.   (BTW, we sang like birds at the service!)

Wow Zebra Sarasa : 11 22 2022

 

 

       What I thought was another roll of electrical tape was in fact a roll of Tesa Tape.  'Da Googles' says it's basically fuzzy electrical harness tape, the kind that Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes use on the interior. From what I saw on the YouTube video, I'm going to throw away all of my electrical tape and start using this. See, ya learn something new every day!  There was half a pair of dice in the road today over where I saw those Life and Risk games a couple of weeks ago.  About all that's left of them now is the Game of Life spinner wheel, all the play money and game pieces have blown/washed away.  Mother nature cleaning up after us.  I thought I knew what that long pen-like thing at the top was but 'Da Googles' knew better.  It's really a "Pen Lot Pilot Rexgrip Pentel Wow Zebra Sarasa Pilot G-2 07 Bk440 Black 1.0"  They showed the price at $14.99 and they've got to be charging by the word.  Or maybe the "Wow Zebra Sarasa" part makes it schmancier.  Sheesh!  I wonder if I can get a job making up names for stuff?  I'm going to call that thing at the top left a "Spiff Total Stork Zord Wanna Pin and I'll sell it to you for $9.95.  Operators are sitting by. 

     That coin in the middle looked like it might be worth something, but after taking a close look when I got done running, it's a car wash token.  It was a nice thought while it lasted. There were a couple of kinda large engine bolts and a few smaller cousins, not a lot of pig-iron out there today.  There were three dimes though and nine pennies and that always makes me smile. Robber Ski Hat? Seriously? : 11 21 2022

 

     I thought that might be a Ninja ski hat, it pulls down so that all you see are the eyes. I had 'Da Googles' look it up and it's listed as a "Vintage Knit Ski Mask 1 Hole Snow Hat Robber Unisex Navy Blue."  I get the unisex ski mask part but Robber?  Seriously?  They're going to advertise it as a "Robber" hat?  I suppose if you're stupid enough to be taking what's not yours, you'd probably need someone to tell you what kind of hat that Robbers wear.  Sheesh!  Ok, now since it's dark blue instead of black, and from what I hear ninjas always wear black, it's not one of theirs, end of discussion.  I haven't run the better part of this route in a while so I figured there'd be all kinds of car "droppings" out there today, and there were.  It looks like it was engine bolt day. This is supposed to be a OneMoreNutInTheRoad blog but there almost weren't any NutsInTheRoad until nearly the end. Lucky thing for me a few finally turned up though, if I have to call this something else like One-More-Lock-Washer-In-The-Road, that's just not going to cut it. 

      That was kind of a schmancy Allen wrench I found this morning.  It had a special little sleeve to it, so it's probably the deluxe version, made for easy Allening.  There were 2 sockets, one a very shiny 11mm which I don't have many of.  The other was a Kobalt 5/8" and for some reason instead of etching the size on, the label is stamped on and it's really hard to read most of the time.  If I'm going to be gifted with sockets, I'm thinking that they better be easy to read or else I'll.......or else, or else I'll just shut up and say thank you for the gift.  Moving on, I found a Gorilla Guard wheel lock key (thank you to 'Da Googles') that somebody will wonder about next time they have to replace a tire.  I see why people have those, if you've got some really pricey tires and rims it makes sense to make it hard for the knuckleheads of the world to steal them.  What's that saying, Karma is a *****?  Nuff said.  Now that L-shaped thing at the lower right is a mystery, 'Da Googles' didn't have a clue either.  There was a 3" pencil labeled Dynamic Discs and slowly the light bulb came on.  It's a scorecard sized pencil and it's for disk golf, ooohhhh.  I was thinking it had something to do with CDs--Ha!  I found another hitch pin, probably to a flatbed trailer.  There's lawn guys everywhere and they all are pulling a flatbed trailer.  I guess if I had been able to spot a nickel today I'd have 'hit for the extended cycle' but somehow I missed it.  A lot of days when I'm short one thing for the 'cycle', the run might get a little longer and I'll explore some places I might not normally look, like maybe a long median from the main road to a side street.  Or I'll think 'just another half mile'.  Funny, there was a time (years ago) when I might have been trying to rationalize how to maybe pack it in a little early.  Now I'm looking for places to extended it--go figure.  Anyway, a quarter, a dime, and six pennies on a route that I had no major expectations for.  Eight little blessing that, as always, I'm grateful for. 

Which Won Is it? : 11 20 2022

      That ginormous tool at top left is a 1/2" socket wrench with a 1 1/8" socket. Now I've got a way to use all those 1/2" sockets I've also found in the road.  I safely tucked away, to get at the end of my run, that wrench as well as the wheel cover, as my pockets only hold so much.  I actually stashed the sunglasses too or they would have gotten scratched up and wouldn't find their way to the 'Rundover' Store's fine collection of eyeware. 

     Granted, Sunday runs are longer with more places to look, but there was a crazy amount of change scattered around. 7 quarters, 7 dimes, 4 nickels, and 49 pennies and there was even a South Korean coin.  Which Won you ask?  Why, a 10 Won thank you very much.  In very good shape this 50 year old coin goes for $10 on Ebay.  Go figure.   And lastly, since I also found 2 sockets and a lug-nut in addition to the change, I once again 'hit for the extended cycle'. (penny,nickel,dime,quarter,socket,lug-nut).  Thank you Big Guy for all these blessings today!

First Aid : 11 19 2022

      I ran across my 1st First Aid kit today. I started seeing gauze, and tape, and band-aids, and sterile pads, etc in the grass just beyond the sidewalk, and I took the gauze roll for the picture.  Not so odd really, I found it in front of a medical facility.  I also found another football player card, that makes 3 now.  My collection is up to 5 counting 1 hockey,  and 1 baseball.  I had a collection of 1 baseball card as a kid: Preston Gomez of the San Diego Padres which should be really valuable now because it's one of a kind--who else but me has one of those?  There was a small plastic bag today with 2 screws, a zip tie and what looked like a tiny jumper for an old P-ATA hard drive.  'Da Googles' sort of agreed saying it's a Harwin Connector Accessory Jumper. Sure it is.  Just imagine how my weekend might have turned out if I had missed seeing that little guy. Moving on, I found another live round, it's a 9mm cartridge and ironically it was in the street in front of a Care-Now.  Very convenient, somebody gets shot and would only have to go 100' for treatment.  Stupid but logical.  There was a dollar's worth of change today and most of the coins were pretty beat up.  But 3 quarters, 4 nickels, and 5 pennies are still greatly appreciated of course.  Many thanks Creator of all things for these little symbols of Your infinite abundance. 

Smarter than A 5th Grader? : 11 18 2022

     Seems it's 'air freshener day.'  I found 5 little 'dangle from the rear-view mirror' packages out in the grass just off the road.  Don't think I'm ready for my car to smell like Bull anything though.  If the Sippin one was lemon scented, I might think about it, but to avoid the internationally famous eye-roll from my honey, I'm going to let these, especially Southside, Dallas, and the muscle car, work on freshening my recycle bin.   That little plastic token at the top right was part of a "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?" game and it looked like most of the game was there.  We're going to assume that I is in fact smarter than a 5th grader and move on.  There was half a credit card in the median of the road and the half I found showed the name, CC# and expiration.You know, it would have been a lot smarter to have lost the other half.  It appears that 'Sean' wasn't smarter than a 5th grader. There was another nut-driver bit (I know, another another bit) along the curb, and knowing that I find a lot of 10mm and 13mm sockets, it's not surprising that this one's a 10mm. I'll be in good company.  That's a very shiny tire valve cap and I was really glad to know it's a universal fit, because they come in so many different si....well, just the one.  A little bit o' pig-iron and a few coins today and the first two pennies were at a driveway I pass a lot.  Judging by how run over they were, I've missed seeing them for a week now.  Guess I didn't need them until today.  Well, thank you Creator for me finding these little blessings today.  

The Flock Gets Bigger : 11 17 2022

      Rubber duckie #29!  Ya-hoo!!  I was thinking it's been quite a while since I found one and look who appeared!  Wilbur!   I was 5 minutes from being finished too, you truly never know when or where. I think I'm going to have to enlarge the pond at this rate.  OK then, it's been in the low 30s when I've hit the streets this week and I've started mixing my sports drink and my Amino Boost with warm water because I've had issues with them freezing up after I've been outside for a while. Yeah, I know, in Texas even!  I thought I heard that NOAA is calling for possible snow Friday night into Sat. so there's a chance of severe whining.    Next, I've spotted all kinds of work gloves (I love the Ninja ones!) but this may be the 1st golf glove I've run across.  It's a "Mesh, Micro Fiber, Non Slip, Beauty" from 'Finger 10'. Although I've only bought a left glove these are sold in pairs now which makes sense especially if they come from a company named for all 10 digits.   Next I found a hat from Colleyville's finest, a fire dept. ball cap and I promise to wear it proudly!  There was another drill/nut driver bit and I'm starting to see these every day, not sure why though.  Another Ft Worth Community Credit Union pen, seems like I have three or 4 of those now.  There was an IHG Rewards card, I guess it's for hotel frequent-stayers.  Lastly, there were three beat-up dimes and four and a half driven over pennies, all little symbols of the Creator's infinite abundance. And I'm OK with maybe an old, dirty, wet, driven over, partly torn $100 bill too.  Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled currency, yearning to breathe free.  And I will give them a home.  Yeayuh!

EUUWWW! : 11 16 2022

 

      After finding 70 drill/nutdriver bits on the 10th and 40 more on the 14th, you'd think that I would have picked the road clean for a while.  Nope. 16 more today and 14 were at the same intersection where I had previously picked up 70.  Don't see how I could have missed them unless maybe they're Ninja bits. You can't see them unless they want you to see them. Makes sense now. Moving on,it was a really good day to find stuff, right up there with some of the longer Sunday runs.  There were two USB cords today, one that fits my current phone and one for my old one so that's handy. There was another Pokémon card, it's a 'Wailmer' which coincidentally is a whale. I never would have guessed.  I think you'd need a program to keep all those Poké-names straight though.  There was a room key-card for a Marriot Coutryard stay, the official hotel of the NFL.  Those "official" endorsements always make me laugh. Why would I care if the NFL (or the Cowboys or anything 'famous') endorses anything?  I'm waiting for the next wave of endorsements, who will be the official laxative of the NFL?  Or the official toe fungus cream or ear wax remover of the NFL?  Or the official bail-bondsman of the NFL---oops, sorry, that last one slipped out.  Not nice.  Moving on, there was a wheel cap for what 'Da Googles' says is a 2002 Volvo 740, something to add to the Ford, Chevy, Mercedes, etc. ones I've found. To the far right is a 44 key remote control for TISRO Led Strip lights.  Must be some kind of schmancy light thingy to have a 44 button remote.  I think I'd have to draw the line at 25 to avoid some kind of overload.

     I thought the small yellow thing at center was an earring but according to 'DG' it's a 'Septum Hanger Nose Non-piercing Jewelry'--a nose ring!  Can I just say for everyone...EUUWWW!!  I've seen people, bless their hearts, that have nose piercings and I've always wondered, how do they blow their nose?  Or sneeze or have a runny nose?  At least this one was just a nose pincher.  Sheesh, makes me shiver just thinking about it.  Hurrying onward, there was a very small yellow crayon and it's not broken, it's full sized for when you only plan to color a little bit, with the only yellow in your masterpiece being a smiley sun.  I found a 3/8" spade drill bit, which could be useful.  I did though have to be careful putting other stuff in that pocket so as not to 'stick me'.   I not only 'hit for the cycle today' I 'hit for the extended cycle' (penny,nickel,dime,quarter,socket,lug-nut)--Woo & Hoo!  1 quarter, 5 dimes, 2 nickels, and 17 1/2  pennies., go figure!  And it was the quarter this time that was the hardest to locate and it showed up in an unlikely place.  Which is how all this generally works.  I never know where or when, I just know.  And to close, thank you Creator of all things for all these little symbols of your infinite abundance.  Yeayuh!
